The challenge
An apartment-block terrace intended as a relaxation area, with the requirement that the finished surface be level even though the slab had a 2% fall.
The solution
Two-layer bituminous waterproofing directly on the slab, covered with 50 mm XPS and concrete slabs on adjustable pedestals. The pedestals absorbed the fall, and the insulation stayed above the waterproofing, shielding it from thermal shock.
The result
A perfectly level finished surface, waterproofing protected mechanically and thermally, and full access to the layers for any future work.
